Advantages of Infrared
Infrared wireless microphone systems are the best solution for classrooms. In today’s RF saturated world a regular (VHF or UHF) microphone system risks interference from a variety of other devices and sources. Cell phones, radios, TV, PA systems, police and emergency service systems, etc., can all interfere with VHF and UHF, but not with IR. Furthermore, infrared is perfect for classroom audio, since, unlike the other systems, IR is short-range, cannot penetrate walls, and is dependent on line-of-sight. This means that a school can have as many classrooms as desired with individual audio systems without fear of interference. Since the Azden system is dual-channel, the teacher can have one microphone and a second person can also have a microphone. In addition, since each classroom system is on the same pair of channels, teachers can go from room to room without having to switch microphones.
Complete Classroom System
A powerful teaching aid, the IRCS-X is a complete audio system that increases student awareness and lowers teaching fatigue. The one-piece ceiling mount IRR-50P is a self-contained Infrared Receiver/Amplifier with built in sensor that easily powers up to 4 speakers for clean, precise audio throughout the room. Three high performance transmitters are provided with the system: IRN-20 Teacher Pendant Microphone, IRN-30 Mini Handheld Student’s Microphone and IRT-10 Line Level Audio Transmitter.
System features include:
Paging Override: The IRCS-X integrates with the school’s existing audio system so school-wide announcements can always be heard.
Wireless Remote: A wireless remote control is included for volume adjustment of all 3 channels, and power ON/OFF. Audio outputs are provided for external recording devices and for additional amplification. Sensor input for even larger room coverage (requires optional sensor).
The IRCS-X kit also includes 4 AA-size rechargeable batteries (1HR-3U) and 2 power chargers (BC-31) for the transmitters. All you need to complete the installation are speakers, speaker cables and coaxial cables if adding any additional IR sensors.

IRR-50P
2-Channel Ceiling Mount IR Receiver with Sensor
The heart of the Azden IRCS-X infrared system is the IRR-50P powered, 3-channel receiver. With an integrated 360 degree IR sensor it’s designed to be mounted directly in a ceiling tile and comes with mounting brackets. Optional additional sensors may be ordered for coverage of larger rooms (Part # IRD-60).
The receiver’s amplifier provides optimal power to drive up to 4 ceiling speakers (not included), which may be placed around the room to evenly distribute sound for the whole classroom.
The receiver accepts 3 channels of wireless audio allowing for the use of a teacher’s microphone, a student’s microphone and a line-level audio signal (such as from a MP3 play, smartphone, tablet or TV) to be used simultaneously. Volume for the 3 audio channels and power on/off is controlled by the included wireless remote control.
IRN-20
Teacher's Pendant IR Microphone/Transmitter
A lightweight, chest worn, microphone/transmitter, the IRN-20 comes with an adjustable lanyard. It is both a microphone and infrared transmitter which wirelessly “links” the teacher to the IR receiver. It has a specially designed internal microphone array which provides great sound pick-up, but for added flexibility, mini-plug connections are included for an external microphone or line-level signal. The teacher can control the volume of the whole system with the volume control buttons on top. With just one “AA” battery (alkaline or rechargeable) the microphone can be used the entire school day without recharging or changing batteries. If using the provided NiMH AA rechargeable battery, it can be charged while installed inside the IRN-20, by connecting the BC-31 wall-charger (note that other battery brands will not be able to charge in-unit).
IRN-30
Mini Handheld IR Microphone/Transmitter
Small and lightweight, the IRN-30 is the perfect handheld “pass-around” microphone for student participation. The built-in microphone provides excellent sound pick up, but for added flexibility, mini-plug connections are included for an external microphone or line-level signal. It is powered by just one “AA” battery (alkaline or rechargeable) and is compatible with all Azden infrared models. If using the provided NiMH AA rechargeable battery, it can be charged while installed inside the IRN-30, by connecting the BC-31 wall-charger (note that other battery brands will not be able to charge in-unit).
IRT-10
Line-Level Audio IR Transmitter
More and more, multimedia is becoming part of the classroom. The IRT-10 allows you to play the audio from your multimedia devices wirelessly over the classroom system for all the students to hear equally well. Connect any line-level audio equipment, such as that from a CD or MP3 player, a smartphone or tablet, from a computer or TV. Because the IRT-10 operates on its own channel, the audio played does not interrupt the use of the teacher and student microphones. A volume control is included on top of the unit for added convenience. The IRT-10 runs on two AA size batteries (alkaline or rechargeable). Just like the other transmitters, with the provided NiMH batteries installed, they may be charged in-unit by connecting a BC-31 wall-charger. (Note that other battery brands will not be able to charge in-unit.)
Remote Control
Controls Volume and Power of IRR-50P
Since the amplifier and receiver (IRR-50P) are now in the ceiling, control over the volume of the 3 wireless channels and power on/off are accessible via the handy remote control which comes with the IRR-50P. The remote requires two AAA size batteries to operate (not included).
In addition to the components listed above, the IRCS-X kit comes with two wall-chargers for the transmitters (Part# BC-31) and four AA size Ni-MH rechargeable batteries (Part# 1HR-3u). Optionally, additional sensors can be purchased separately (Part# IRD-60). Speakers, speaker wire and coaxial cable are not included with this kit.
